In contrast, Grande River Vineyard is a winery that upholds the classic art of winemaking. It’s located in Palisade on Grande River Drive and they grow their own grapes. Richard and Jean Tally purchased Grande River Vineyard on June 17, 2021 and created a new entity, Ten Acre Winery LLC/DBA Grande River Vineyards; it is still very much involved in the winemaking process. When Jean Tally looks back on the changes that have taken place at Grande River Drive Winery, where she is co-owner, she does so with a certain degree of pride. “My husband and I bought the land where the winery now sits,” she said. “And it’s just amazing to see it now, versus what it was then and what it’s become.” According to Jean Tally.

The individual contributions of each winery in this region really establish what our wine culture is becoming. For example, Shiras Winery is really associated with the tasting room and the restaurant Zesty Moose. The restaurant and the winery happen to be in the same building; you can’t pass the tasting counter without going through the winery. “So, if you come for lunch at Shiras, you get a pretty dramatic view of what’s going on right behind the counter. And I can say in all modesty that the wines are pretty good, too. About 50 percent of our wine production is Shiras. When you consider our productivity, it’s clear that the valley is focusing on this winery and the 35 wines we’re producing”. According to Diana Tap who is the founder of The Zesty Moose Wine bar at Shiras Winery.
