Sustainability Council is an organization that works with CMU. Their goal is to make sure that both the CMU campus and Grand junction can be more sustainable for everybody.
Sustainability Council meets every Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Escalante Hall at CMU. The head of Sustainability Council is named Luaren Martin.
This year, Sustainability Council did a week full of events surrounding Earth Week and encouraging people on how they could be more sustainable. These events included used record painting with KMSA, terrarium building, and Maverick Marketplace.

There are many different ways to make Grand Junction more sustainable, even without being a CMU student.
CMU Tech has a composting facility where you can bring compostable waste that you may have. Details on what the compost facility accepts is available on the CMU website.
New Way Refillery is also another way that Sustainability Council recommends Grand Junction residents may be more sustainable. It is a place where you are able to purchase more sustainable products and refill products you already have, making it simpler to reduce single-use plastics.
The Sustainability Council also often has guest lecturers to teach more people about being sustainable, such as CMU professors and the sustainability coordinator of Grand Junction, Jenny Nitzky.
The Sustainability Council is constantly partnering with the community in order to make Grand Junction more sustainable.
