Colorado Mesa University’s Izzy Burns A Talented Student

Colorado Mesa University produces a talented student, Izzy Burns, who excels both on the beach volleyball court and in the music industry. Burns, a rising star at CMU, is gaining attention for her skills and ability to balance her athletic and musical pursuits.
Playing beach volleyball and pursuing a career in music may seem like two entirely different paths, but for Izzy Burns, they work together, they allow her to showcase her versatility and determination. Burns shared her thoughts on balancing her passions, stating, “Playing both activities are similar because they’re both about performing well, but they are mental activities that can be enjoyable but yet sometimes exhausting.”

Burns’ journey with volleyball began at the age of 8, and she developed a passion for the sport. Over the years, she trained her skills, eventually earning a spot on CMU’s beach volleyball team. Her dedication and hard work pays off, as she is now a key player for the Mavericks, showcasing her athleticism on the court.
In addition to her athletic pursuits, Burns is making waves in the music industry. She has music on Apple Music and Spotify. She began performing and singing at the age of 11, producing a natural talent for music. Her skills as a singer have not gone unnoticed, and she is gaining recognition for her soulful voice and performances.
Burns’ experiences in volleyball have also influenced her music journey. She explained, “Being a singer, I have skills to control my breathing when a long rally in volleyball comes my way.” Likewise, her time on the volleyball court has taught her valuable lessons about performing under pressure, which has translated to her confidence on stage.
Looking towards the future, Burns has ambitious plans. After college, she intends to move to a music industry hub like Los Angeles, Nashville, or New York to pursue her dreams of making it big in the music scene. Her time at CMU has not only prepared her but has also provided her with the skills and experiences necessary to thrive in the competitive world of music.
