With tourist attractions littering the United States, choosing one to stop at can be overwhelming. Grand Junction is home to a great number of these tourist attractions. Anyone passing through may stop by the Colorado National Monument, the Avalon Theater, or even the Museum of the West. However, if one is looking to shop while touring the town, they won’t want to miss the largest antique mall between Denver and Las Vegas: A Robin’s Nest of Antiques and Treasures.
“We are the largest between Las Vegas and Denver,” Alexandria Allerheiligen said, manager at Robin’s Nest. “We are renting out space currently to about 75 people.”
Robin’s Nest has lived in downtown Grand Junction for 12 years and has been growing ever since.
“We’re locally owned and operated, and we’re reaching the end of our 12th year,” Allerheiligen said.
Robin’s Nest is filled top to bottom with various antiques, oddities, glassware, and more. Each vendor brings their own collection of items to sell in each shop. There is a top floor packed with vendors’ collectables, but the fun doesn’t stop there.
Robin’s Nest has a second floor under the first. This floor contains mostly glassware, some clothing, and other collectibles. There is a whole world of words to discover in this area: a complete wall of books.

The books sold at Robin’s Nest are brought in by vendors and stored on bookshelves that line a few walls in the basement section. But that’s not all that makes this location so special. A key component in this business is the family that runs it.
“It’s a family-owned business,” Allerheiligen said. “Multiple members of family work here, so it’s a big family endeavor.”

Many people shop at Robin’s Nest each day that they are open. One Grand Junction local, Jenna Perry, likes to frequent the shop every so often to see what’s new.
“I think it’s a great place to find objects you wouldn’t find anywhere else,” Perry said. “I like that there are individual people I know are getting some of my money instead of just big chains taking it all for themselves. I feel lucky to have something like this in the place I live.”
Robin’s Nest is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. They are located in downtown Grand Junction at 602 Main St.
