Enjoy Church became a local staple of faith upon its arrival to the Western Slope ten years ago. Within the Church, a unique team of individuals with a heart for worshiping the lord resides. The worship team at this contemporary Christian Church is made up of 19 individuals with differentiated passions and roles.
This worship-oriented group within the Church is called the creative team. Beyond the band and vocalists, there are sound, light, and visual aid technicians.
The creative team at Enjoy Church was formally headed by pastor John Wickham’s wife, Kristina Wickham. The position of creative team director has since been handed to Kinber Dunham.
The creative team both plays for church services and practices on Sundays.

“We have practices Sunday morning to run through everything,” Dunham said. “Although, we are always aware that we may end a song differently when the Holy Spirit blows through and begins to lead.”
Worship music is used in many religions to connect to faith and build community. The practice of worship is not exclusive to Christianity. At Enjoy Church, the creative team conducts worship as an act of praise.
“Our worship team does not want to come off as if we are doing a performance,” Dunham said. “We practice worshiping in Spirit and Truth by removing ourselves from leading and letting God take the reins so he gets the glory, not us.”
The creative team has walked through many challenging seasons since its beginning in May of 2013. The current owners and a small group of individuals met regularly in a funeral home in order to conduct its services. This location was available to the Church, free of change. As the Church grew in popularity, weekly services began to be held on the campus of Colorado Mesa University. Although, this location was also short-lived due to financial restraints.
Enjoy Church has since relocated to the funeral home where it began. The location was no longer a funeral home and has been permanently bought by the owners of Enjoy Church.
Due to the consistent relocating, the creative team has struggled to secure regular position holders. Since the opening of the official location, the creative team has been the largest it has ever been in history.
“In the past 5 months we went from having 9 people and now we have 19 people, two drummers, three bass players, an electric guitarist, and many more positions,” Dunham said. “God has definitely grown our team, and made it flourish.”
This creative team leads worship to a crowd of roughly 100-150 people each week. The academic schedules of the local universities typically impact the attendance numbers.
Worship is powerful.
“I hope people remember us for our hearts of worship and not just our talents,” Dunham said.
