Fixture Studio is a one of a kind business here in Grand Junction. The company specializes in interior design, but does so much more. In addition to interior designing, Fixture Studio also does commercial and residential building, as well as renting homes.
In the beginning stages of Fixture Studio, they were solely an interior design business. In 2020, Jami and Jeff Huber took over the business. The Huber’s came from a background that wasn’t closely related to housing or real estate, Jami came from a marketing and business background, while Jeff had 25 years of experience working corporate jobs.
“For my second life I wanted to get into interior design. My husband (Jeff) just came off a 25 year corporate career and wanted something completely different, so we did that”, chief operating officer Jami Huber said. “We started having conversations with the previous owners, and I guess it was meant to be. One conversation led to the next one, they decided to sell, and we decided to buy.”
In Jeff’s corporate career, he was the CEO of a local company that turned into a multi-billion dollar global company under his leadership. Similarly now, Fixture Studio is much bigger than it was just three years ago, being the only business in town that offers such a variety of services.
In terms of services, interior designing is the most prevalent feature for Fixture Studio.
“I think interior designing is what keeps us the most busy,” lead architectural designer Jenna Smith said. “You can design every aspect of the company or home, whether it be a short term remodel, or a whole new project. Even with the houses that we manage, sometimes we have to do maintenance, and sometimes it’s just as simple as freshening up the place.”

As far as pricing goes, everything fluctuates. For residential design, some of the factors for pricing interior design are square footage, hourly rates, and a management fee. The commercial interior design pricing is similar, but there is also a fee for contractors and renovators.
One of the cooler features of Fixture Studio is their rental properties.
“I think that what makes us unique is our rental side. The whole idea is that we can build your home, and while we’re building your home, you can stay at one of our rental properties,” Smith said.
21 of the 22 rental properties are located across the front range, and western slope of Colorado, while the one other property is located in New Mexico.
“We have the rental properties obviously in a community similar to ours (Grand Junction), where people like to come and visit because of all the outdoor activities, and how quickly this area of the western slope is growing,” Huber said. “There’s a lot of people who now would much prefer to stay in a home where they can store all their outdoor toys, and hang out with their family rather than staying at a hotel. The short term or vacation rental industry has really grown drastically in the last few years here.”
The pricing for the rental properties also fluctuates. Each home has a set baseline, which is similar to a hotel daily rate. The other factor is the supply and demand rate of each home. If one of the homes is heavily booked, and has constant occupancy, the price of that rental property will increase.
Currently, Fixture Studio has a positive rep amongst people in Grand Junction, with a 4.8/5 stars on google reviews. In the future, Fixture Studio plans to grow with the city of Grand Junction.

“Grand Junction is an incredibly fast growing market. I think that for us, we’ll start to see more competition, but you’ll see more really interesting things starting to happen in this market. I think you’ll see a lot of interesting buildings and homes that will come up so I guess it’s just kind of watching the market,” Huber said.
