The Distinctive Properties branch of Coldwell Banker in Grand Junction and its employees have had their hands full for years due to the mass migration of people to the Grand Valley. The agents of Coldwell work around the clock in order to satisfy their clientele and move aspiring homeowners into the houses of their dreams. One such agent is Keenan Coit.

Coit grew up in Fruita where he attended Fruita Monument High School and eventually went on to attend Colorado State University in Fort Collins. It was here that he obtained his real estate license and joined a very small five man company called Velocity Real Estate. During his junior and senior years of college, Coit sold five houses collectively and eventually graduated in 2016. He would then move back to his roots and join up with Coldwell Banker in Grand Junction. Since joining up, his career has taken off and he hasn’t looked back.

In 2017, just a year after moving back, Coit won the 30 Under 30 Award, which is given to the top 30 agents under the age of 30, globally, for their abilities in marketing, communicating, sales, leadership and philanthropy.

“The conference was held in [Las] Vegas, that’s where we were honored, it was just an awesome experience to be up there with the top agents in the country,” Coit said.

Coit is consistently among the top producers at Coldwell year by year. His abilities to connect and adapt to the needs of clients has not only made him one of the top selling agents in Grand Junction, but within the Distinctive Properties branch of the company as a whole.

“Real estate is really fun because you essentially get to be someone’s counselor. Getting to help someone with such an important and big financial decision in their lives is a great feeling to get,” Coit said. “The best part is when I help a younger person, like someone my age, buy a house because it shows that they made it. They’re killing it in life.”

In order to be a proficient realtor, one must have a variety of skills that assist with the different aspects of the job. These include the abilities to communicate effectively, market yourself on social media platforms, and be flexible with the needs of the clients.

One of the areas that Coit excels in is creating content on his various social media platforms, which consistently receive upward of five thousand views. These videos allow him to showcase his creative and funny side, and on top of all of that, it makes people more likely to contact him and inquire about a home.

“There are so many different ways you can go about it: you can cold call, you can take emails, you know, go door to door and knock or you could post about a listing on Facebook or Instagram and see who responds to it,” Coit said.

Being employed at Coldwell has many perks, and the lively and fun environment is Coit’s favorite part of the job.

“I think the best part about it is the schedule. You get to be your own boss, you’re on the call 24/7 so you get to make connections with people at any time. You also get to vacation whenever you want, you get to golf whenever you want,” Coit said. “The people here are also really fun, really social. We do a lot of get-togethers, we have a “happy hour” every week where we all get drinks and food at the office and just have a good time.”

Coit also has a hidden passion that he pursues whenever he finds himself away from the office of Coldwell. When he isn’t working on a real estate deal, Coit spends some of his free time exercising his musical talents. He currently has one rap album, aptly named Rap Rado, and it’s available for listen on Spotify and Apple Music.

“I actually started making music with a couple of my buddies in high school just for fun. Music has always been a sort of escape for me. Whenever I feel like I need a break from real estate, I start to write some things down and just go at it in the studio,” Coit said.

The skills on the mic also have also had a crucial impact on his real estate sales career.

“Rap is an escape for me really, but it also shows that I know how to have fun, it shows that I am trustworthy, it shows that I am confident,” Coit said.

The younger agents at Coldwell Banker often look to Coit for guidance when they first get started. A little over a year ago, Skyler Kraai earned his realtor’s license and was quickly taken in by Coit as his own protege.

“Keenan really taught me all there is to know. He’s the reason I was able to sell my first house and get things going. I always go directly to him whenever I have questions or if I just wanna chat it up with someone. I can’t thank him enough for all of the help he’s given me” Kraai said.

Coit and Kraai are both available for inquiry at Coldwell Banker: Distinctive Properties either by appointment on their website, by phone, email or by visiting their offices at 131 N 6th St.
