It is that time of the year again. Break out your bicycles and help your environment. It is the 10th annual Grand Valley Bike Ride Month. Mesa County wants to encourage the community to ride their bicycle for the entire month of May.
“I think that you should bike to work and school because, one, it’s great for your health. No matter if you’re going at full sprint or just simply pedaling, it is making your body move. Two, it’s great for the environment. You’re not spending as much time in the car which limits carbon emissions. And three, we have such amazing bike paths and bike lanes here in town which makes going by bike such an unique part about Grand Junction.” Cycling enthusiast Steven Evans said.
Studies have shown that riding bicycles help decrease the chances of cardiovascular diseases, cancers, diabetes, and other causes of death.
Riding bicycles are good for the environment by reducing pollution and improve traffic safety and makes the surrounding area attractive to businesses and community members.

As the weather starts to warm up, it is the perfect opportunity for you to ride your bicycle.
“Riding bikes is not only fun but it also helps the environment and your health.” Samantha Hedges a Colorado Mesa University Nursing Student said.
