Downtown Grand Junction is full of a variety of fun local shops, but the one where you are guaranteed to make the most unique purchase is at A Robin’s Nest of Antiques and Treasures on 602 Main St.
As you walk in, you might be overwhelmed by all the different trinkets in the glass cases and various antique household items all over the place. But as you start to go section by section and carefully analyze the various items that this business carries, you will immediately want to stay and explore.

If you have visited Robin’s Nest before, there is no doubt that you have spent some time inside this store checking out all of the interesting items in every corner of the building. No matter where you look, there is always something that will catch your attention.
The business rents out to over 70 different vendors who are each in charge of their own space inside the store. With the opportunity for different vendors to rent their own little spot, brings a wide range of different items to the store such as jewelry, old antiques, clothing, toys and many other interesting items.

The building has a built in coffee shop and a downstairs section that is equally as full as the upstairs section. One of the very first things that caught my eye in the downstairs section is the large section of different porcelain dolls on the shelves glaring at everybody as they pass by.
The time stamped items are the most interesting such as the old freaky looking toys still in their boxes and all the stuffed dolls just laying around. Although, the spooky vibes you might get are just enough to keep you looking around.

One of the most random objects that I found on my trip to Robin’s Nest were three huge metal antique US postal service boxes. Not sure why someone would want to buy those but you could maybe turn them into some type of DIY project.
Shane Allerheiligen, the husband of Robin who is the business owner, has seen a lot of rare and interesting objects come in and out of the store.
“I think one of my favorite purchases is when we had a Caribou Mount. It was an amazing animal that was taken, it was harvested in the 60s and we had it here for a very short time and it sold really quickly,” Allerheiligen said.

Aside from those unique findings at Robin’s Nest, Allerheiligen also says that there are also some rare books and original artwork from known artists that you could also find at the store.
The business tries to appeal to a variety of different age groups, and although you may think that there might not be something for you at Robin’s Nest, there’s a few items that the local business carries that aren’t necessarily old or antique-like.
“You’ll see a lot of young folks because we were into collectibles. We believe stickers and patches, they’re a fun thing, and they’re collectible, and they’re cheap so that brings a lot of the younger crowd in,” Allerheiligen said.

No matter what age of background you will definitely find something to add to your collections or to decorate your space at home. Everyone’s definition of “weird” is different, but there is no doubt that the items that you might not see everyday are those that leave the store in somebody’s hands almost right away.
“The weirder it is, the faster it sells,” Allerheiligen said.
