Mesa County drive through testing site at the fairgrounds Moved

As Mesa County COVID-19 cases have down, therefore the demand for testing has been reduced as well. With fewer tests administered, it has been decided to relocate the drive through testing site from Mesa County Fairgrounds back to Mesa County Public Health parking lot. This was the first drive-through sampling site in Colorado.

The fairgrounds served as a regional testing hub, collecting thousands of tests each week.

According to the Mesa County Public Health Website on November 17th 2020 1,457 samples were collected. Since then the demand has significantly been reduced.  An average of 200 samples a day are now collected community-wide.

It’s been crucial to have large-scale sampling sites. This helped slow the spread of COVID-19 during the peak of the pandemic. With the amount of cases reduced, other types of testing and the vaccine readily available, reducing the size of the testing site.

Those with COVID-19 symptoms or individuals who have been exposed are recommended  to receive a COVID-19 test. Symptoms may include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea.

Visit the Mesa County Public Health website for hours and locations of several community testing sites or call your healthcare provider.
