Summer is right around the corner, making its way for people to hit the town and listen to their favorite local bands. Whether you’re at your favorite restaurant or your go-to bar, local bands always seem to make your time there a little bit better.
A band you might see performing at the Farmers Market or Rockslide is a local band named Desert Moon. Desert Moon is a four man group which consists of having an electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass and drums. Brian Limper, who plays the acoustic guitar said, “Our music can best be described as country flavored rock and roll”.
“We formed in 2007 after I met my co bandmate Greg Campbell at a party I was playing at. He asked to sit in and we hit it off immediately and shortly thereafter decided to form the group,” Limper said.
Desert Moon has been all over performing at the most popular places in the Grand Valley. “Through the years we’ve played outdoor venues such as the Ale House, Rockslide, Palisade Distillery and Brewery, and Edgewater Brewery to name a few,” Limper said. And to name a few more, Desert Moon has made quite a few appearances at the Grand Junction and Fruita Farmers Market. The band also does indoor gigs performing at places such as the Warehouse and Cruisers.
“The brewery in Palisade is probably our favorite venue as long as we can play outside, largely due to the setting and the enthusiastic crowds that are so common there,” Limper said.
Unfortunately, his bandmate, Greg Campbell has had a difficult 6 months or so with his health so they have not been able to do any live stream performances during this pandemic. Although Desert Moon have not performed due to certain circumstances, the band has a Facebook page where they have a couple videos of them performing.
If you need some country rock in your life, Desert Moon has that covered. Follow them on Facebook for news about any upcoming concerts.
